About Matt Tenney
Matt Tenney is the founder of PeopleThriver and The Generous Group, two companies that aspire to create the best workplace cultures in the world. Matt is also the author of Serve To Be Great: Leadership Lessons from a Prison, a Monastery, and a Boardroom, and The Mindfulness Edge: How to Rewire Your Brain for Leadership and Personal Excellence. Matt is frequently invited to present keynote speeches at leadership conferences and meetings. His TEDx Talk has been viewed over 1,000,000 times since January, 2020.
My Vision
I envision a world in which the vast majority of leaders make it their top priority to effectively love and serve others, and are equipped with proven practices for doing so.
I believe that this helps leaders to run more effective organizations over the long term.
More importantly, I believe that having a world full of leaders who make it their top priority to effectively love and serve others – and are equipped with proven practices for doing so – would create the conditions for a permanent end to poverty, violence, and other unnecessary suffering.
My Work
As part of my work to realize this vision, I run two sister companies, Business Leadership Today and The Generous Group.
With both companies, we’re working to create workplace environments that improve the well-being of employees and help them be awesome human beings who make the world a better place with their daily actions.
We hope to inspire other business leaders to follow our example.
We also create and distribute content that helps leaders run world-class organizations – with a focus on loving employees well – and inspires leaders to prioritize people and the planet ahead of short-term profit.
Prior to launching The Generous Group in 2018, I spent 5 years traveling, consulting, and speaking at events full time as part of my work to realize my vision.
It was after spending 5 years speaking about leading with love, working with great organizations with amazing workplace cultures, that I was inspired to build my own company with the main goal of creating the best place in the world to work.
I feel very fortunate to now have the opportunity to be combining 3, powerful ways of realizing my vision: building my own companies with great workplace cultures, inspiring other leaders to do the same with my own books and speaking, and distributing content from the best minds in the world on how to run a world-class organization with a focus on loving and serving employees.
